CLASS PIANO 101

While still learning the basic piano skills and music theory knowledge needed to go to level 2, students who enjoy classroom interaction more than one-on-one private lessons find Class Piano to be more fun and effective. Best suited for beginners.  Students use keyboards to participate in this class.

The Music Room

The class focuses on essential musical elements including melody, rhythm, form, and harmony presented in a fun and exciting environment.  Students will sing songs, play instruments, and use creative movement to express themselves through music. This class is great for the Homeschooler needing Arts Credit or the parent hoping to instill a life-long desire to seek out music in the students' life.

OnStage Children’s Choir

This choir is for children between grades 3 and up and will give the student the   opportunity to sing beautiful choral music and give performances for the public.   The Chorus provides group vocal instruction, basic musicianship, and performs music from all styles and periods.

The joy of the choir is for the children to not only experience choral music, but to engage in commitment to making a beautiful sound with others while having fun singing.   Music concepts and skills are taught through a singing-based curriculum, listening, and analysis.  Auditions by Appointment.  Please call the studios at 704-246-8160.

MUSICAL THEATRE CLASSES

 

MUSICAL THEATER BOOT CAMP 201

Make friends and build self-confidence all while learning to act, sing, and dance! This is an introduction class to the foundation of being a Broadway Star. While exploring various musical numbers, voice development, silly movement games, mock audition, resume building, headshot preparation, and stage make-up, we will begin introducing the young stars to the fundamentals of a Broadway Musical.

TRIPLE THREAT! Boot Camp Bonus

This class is the Boot Camp Bonus! Students will work on the 3 disciplines of musical theater – Acting, Singing, and Dancing. Students will study audition techniques, song interpretation, acting and improvisation, and Broadway choreography. The instructor assesses each student’s abilities and needs and specific individual goals are set for the overall cast and the individual student. Each semester focuses on a new musical so you can take this class over and over and learn something new every time!

STARSTRUCK SHOW CHOIR 

A singing and dance class teaching basic music theory, vocal techniques and an introduction to the different styles of music in a fun Show Choir setting.  This unique Performance Company provides experienced singers and dancers with an opportunity to perform scenes from Musical Theatre through song and dance. This class is by audition only and the group travels to various locations for performances and competitions.  Costumes are required for this Company.  Auditions by Appointment. ACTOR’S Boot Camp 201

This is an Introduction Class for the budding ACTOR! If your child wants to be an Actor then this class is a must! Students will learn monologues ranging from serious to comedic, all age appropriate, theater terminology through fun and silly games, improvisation and physical comedy, basic principals, commercials, and so much more! The final show is a creation using the imagination of the performers!

LET’S MAKE A SCENE! 201

This scene study class is designed to teach the fundamentals of acting.  Students will learn basic theater terminology as they work on assigned scenes with their scene partners. Each student will be required to be "off book", lines memorized by the second class.

LIGHTS-CAMERA-ACTION

Children will learn how to act on camera for film, television, and commercials. They will learn terms and key phrases used on set and stage. Students will practice commercials, scenes, and monologues in front of an audience and a camera.

WRITE AWAY!

A beginning writer's workshop designed to give format and structure to your child’s original stories, plays, poetry or songs. This is a collaborative environment where fellow classmates give each other feedback and perform their original works.

LOL COMEDY AND IMPROVISATION

Students will do an in-depth study of comedic scripts. They will learn about comedic timing, and slapstick comedy, as well as view famous comedic programs/films to learn classic and modern techniques. They will learn the art of reacting versus acting by listening to their scene partner.

Dance for the Musical Stage

 

OnStage School of Performing Arts will now be offering Dance for the Musical Stage (DMS) classes! The primary objective of the DMS program at OnStage is to expand the student’s general dance vocabulary with a focus in theatre dance.

Please follow the instructions for the required list.  Dance Attire is required before the first day of classes.

DANCE STYLES for the Musical Stage

This will be a regularly scheduled class on the first Friday of every month that is open to any middle or high school students interested. It will focus on all aspects of dance for the musical stage and the topics will vary every class. These topics range from how to dance in high heels, Musical Theatre history, specific choreographic styles (Fosse, ballet, hip hop, etc.), and much more.  Please be prepared to have reading assignments and bring your character shoes!

OnStage Class Refund Policy
Class tuition can be refunded in full up to two weeks prior to the class start date.  Camp refunds will not be granted after the deadlines listed below.  Registration fees are non-refundable.  Tuition CAN be credited to future class sessions or programs. To request a refund, please send an email to info@onstagecharlotte.com.

What if I need to switch classes/camps?
If families find that they have a scheduling conflict and need to switch their class day or time or camp, please call 704-246-8160 or email
info@onstagecharlotte.com to request this change. Students will not be moved from their assigned class or camps after the refund deadline.  Please be aware that switching class is contingent upon space availability in the desired class.

  
 

 

Cancellation of Class Policy

 

OnStage reserves the right to cancel a class if there are not enough participants to complete the curriculum.  Class Cancellations will be made the week prior to the start date.  All registered students will receive an email notice of class cancellation and credit cards will be refunded.
 

 

No refunds or credits will be granted after the indicated dates.
