Principal Roles:
Peter Pan (Tenor/Soprano) is a boy who refuses to grow up. He can fly, and has an apparently unique connection to the magical realm of Neverland. Peter has traditionally been played by a female.
Captain James Hook (Baritone) is a pirate, and Peter Pan's archenemy. He is determined to get revenge on Peter for cutting off his hand and feeding it to a giant crocodile.
Tinker Bell is a fairy and a companion to Peter Pan at the time of his adventures with Wendy Darling. Tink follows Peter but is very jealous of Wendy and Tiger Lily, and wants to get rid of them so she can have Peter to herself. She communicates through funny noises and humurous acting.
Wendy Darling (Soprano) is a 12 - 13 yr old girl who befriended Peter Pan, and whom he took with him to Neverland to be a mother for himself and the Lost Boys. She is nice to the lost boys even though she wants to get home and see her parents. She is the oldest of the Darling children and is kind and caring.
John Darling is the second youngest of the Darling children (about 8 - 10 yrs old). He wears glasses and a long nightshirt and top hat, and carries an umbrella with him. When Peter Pan can't lead the Lost Boys, he acts as their intelligent leader.
Michael Darling is the youngest of the three children in the Darling family. His age is 6 - 8 yrs old and he wears footed pajamas and carries a small teddy bear with him, even in the dream world of Neverland. He is quite sensitive. He looks up to his older sister Wendy and he sometimes bickers with John, his older brother.
George Darling is the husband of Mary Darling and the father of Wendy, Michael, and John. He is also a bank/office worker, and can be quite loud and boisterous, as well as pompous and self-important. He is actually a kind-hearted person that just wants what's best for his family, especially his kids. He often states that he must become a man "that children fear and adults respect."
Mary Darling is the wife of George Darling and the mother of Wendy, John, and Michael Darling, who travel with Peter to Neverland. She is a loving wife and mother, but not demonstratively so.
Tiger Lily is the princess of the Tribe of Indians (Native Americans) living on the island of Neverland. Tiger Lily is nearly killed by Captain Hook when she is seen boarding the Jolly Roger with a knife in her mouth, but Peter saves her.
Smee is Captain Hook's right-hand man and seen as a rather silly entertaining man interested in loot rather than Hook's more evil pleasures. Smee typically represents a humorous side to pirating.
SECONDARY ROLES:
Liza (Alto) is the Darling Family's maid.
Nana is the Newfoundland dog or "nurse" of Wendy, John, and Michael, hired by the Darlings to look after the children on his modest income.
Wendy Grown-Up appears in the last Act when Peter returns to find out that she can no longer fly.
Jane is the daughter of Wendy Darling and follows Peter to Neverland after Wendy has grown up and lost the ability to fly.
The Lost Boys are a gang of boys who fell out of their prams and were not claimed by their parents, so they were sent to Neverland. Lost Boys include:
Slightly- the most conceited
Tootles- the youngest one
Twin #1 -
Twin #2
Curly - very mischevious
Nibs - the bravest - happy and joyful
The Pirates:
Starkey is the first mate on the Jolly Roger. He is also called "Gentleman Starkey" because of his impeccable manners. He used to be an usher in a public school and is described as "still dainty in his ways of killing." He is the only pirate (apart from Smee) to survive the final battle, being captured by the Indians and forced to be a babysitter for them.
Ed Teynte is Hook's quartermaster. First pirate to be killed by Peter in the final battle.
Bill Jukes is the second pirate to be killed by Peter in the final battle. He is viewed as a an inventive lad who was the ship's gunner, responsible for maintaining the "Long Tom", a cannon stylized to resemble a white tiger.
Cecco is the third pirate to be killed by Peter in the final battle.
Cookson is the ship's (extremely bad) cook, given the first name Eucrates and was apparently of Greek origin, as he spoke with a very thick accent.
Noodler is the pirate whose hands are fixed on backwards.
Morgan Skylights is a clutzy pirate killed by Hook for accidentally bumping against him and ruffling his lace collar.
Mullins A member of Hook's crew from Brooklyn and Is deeply superstitious and prone to landsickness.
ANIMALS
Lion
Kangaroo
Ostrich
Crocodile Tick-Tock is Hook's only nemesis besides Peter, and also the only thing for which he is mentioned as having any fear. It ate Hook's missing hand when Peter cut it from him in battle, and longs for the rest of him.

Mermaids
Indians
Pirates
AUDITION HINTS:
Audition Day can be very exciting! Here are few things you need to know to ensure your audition goes smoothly.
1. *If possible prepare 1 minute Monolgue, 16-bars of an audition song that matches the character you are interested in and a contrasting piece in case the director ask for more!
2. *Always dress nice in comfortable clothing that you can dance in. For example: capris, tshirt, and bring your jazz shoes.
3. *ABSOLUTELY NO mini-skirts, jeans, flip-flops, or high heels at Auditions. If the student has them, Jazz or Character shoes should be brought for choreography.
Bring with you to the audition:
Audition Application, Original Music or Repertoire Book, Dance Shoes, Resume, and Headshot. Auditions are typically first come, first serve. If auditions are "Closed," they are usually by appointment. If the auditions are "Open" you are called in randomly.
WHOS WHO!
In most Theatre Companies, there is a Producer, Artistic Director, Music Director, Choreographer, and Accompanist. You may meet all of these or just a few at your audition. Be Prepared!
THE PROCESS
The Artistic or Music Director may ask you some questions and have you begin with your monologue then sing your song. If the director(s) does not need to hear the whole piece they may stop you in the middle of the song. This does not mean you are not good! Shortening your song could be for a number of reasons that has nothing to do with you or your talent. After everyone has auditioned, the director(s) will typically have various people to read from the script. You will also be asked to do some improvisations alone or with a group and then learn a short choreographed dance number.
If you are cast, the next thing you do is come to the first rehearsal. Here you will receive your score, script, rehearsal schedule, cast list, etc. Your parents need to come with you to this rehearsal. The director(s) will go over the schedule, rules, procedures, and everything else you need to know. Parents will be asked to volunteer in some capacity in order for you to participate in the production.
If there are a large number of people auditioning, the director may ask for Callbacks. Getting a callback does not necessarily mean you will get the part, but it is an encouraging sign. If there are Callbacks, you will probably need to stay for the entire time. Following Callbacks, you will receive a phone call if you are cast. If you do not receive a phone call within a few days, you have not been cast. IF THAT SHOULD HAPPEN, PLEASE DO NOT STOP TRYING! You will eventually get cast, so stay positive & keep studying.
REMEMBER...
*Director(s) are looking to see whether or not you can speak & sing loud enough to be heard and whether you can speak with expression.
*If you are trying out for a non-singing or non-speaking role, the director(s) want to see if you are animated in your movements and facial expressions.
*If you are auditioning for a singing/speaking role, the director(s) will want to see if you can act and sing at the same time.
*The director(s) look for performers who understand the characters of the chosen show. For instance, if your character is happy, sad, excited, or nervous at a particular point in the script, the director wants to see if you can show those feelings with your body and voice.
*The director(s)are also looking for a variety of body shapes and sizes to create an interesting picture on stage and yet stay true to the script. For example, a child should be smaller than the parent.
Be sure to have your monologue and at least 2 songs memorized. You never know when the directors may want to hear something different than your chosen piece.
