What We Believe
Music lessons help your child develop cognitive skills.
A study on six year old children showed that children given nine months of music training scored an average of three points higher on intelligence quotient tests than those who didn’t receive training.Learning to play the piano involves use of a variety of segments of the brain including areas housing spatial reasoning skills, emotion, creativity, and motor skills. Giving your child music lessons may ultimately translate into more effective cognitive skills in school.
Music lessons help with focus and concentration.
Another reason why piano lessons are helpful to children is that piano training requires focus and concentration. To play an instrument successfully, a child must be able to read the music and translate the notes on the page into hand movements that express the musical passage. This requires a great deal of focused concentration on the part of the child. Development of the ability to focus can aid in achieving academic success later in life.
Piano lessons help to build confidence.
When a child studies piano and successfully masters the skills involved in playing music, he develops self esteem and confidence in his ability. This confidence will follow your child throughout his school years and can make him a more successful student. This is why piano lessons are so often recommended at a young age.
Piano lessons help your child overcome shyness.
By participating in OnStage recitals, your child becomes comfortable performing before a group which can be instrumental in helping your child overcome shyness. It also gives your child a skill he can perform at school events such as talent shows and musicals.
Music lessons can be a lifelong asset to your child.
Unlike gymnastics and some sports where the opportunity to play and be successful is limited to those who are young, piano lessons will give your child a skill he can carry into adulthood and even into old age. An eighty year old can derive just as much pleasure as a six year from singing or playing an instrument well.
If you want to give your child a head start in life, you may want to consider the considerable advantages of music lessons. You’ll be rewarded when your child fills your home with beautiful music.
One-on-one attention
Students in private lessons are able to learn the type of music they personally are most interested in. Our teachers can focus 100% of their attention on that one student to ensure that hand positioning, posture or the understanding of a particular concept are correct. If a student has a particular difficulty in one area, the teacher can work on it without hampering the progress of a class of students and alternatively, if a student is excelling in one area, the teacher can move on. We offer 30 minute, 45 minute, and 1 hour lessons.
Our school is equipped to offer music lessons for students of all ages and abilities, from beginners to very advanced students. We offer every style of lessons from classical to jazz and pop.
What Makes OnStage Unique?
The main thing that makes OnStage stand apart from other music studios is the overall music pedigree of the teachers and the emphasis on keeping the lessons fun and energetic. Hannah and Chris own OnStage and are also highly accomplished musicians that perform with orchestras in the region and have degrees from two of the top Music Schools in the US. At OnStage, every music teacher has been selected for their expertise and for their devotion to sharing music in a fun atmosphere. It is the family environment that has ushered OnStage's growth more than anything else. The great majority of our new students are from word of mouth advertising and we are growing quickly!

PIANO LESSONS
Our piano teachers teach a variety of styles from classical to popular music. Whether you want to learn a classical sonatina, rock chords, or popular sheet music, our teachers are happy to help you become the pianist you want to be. Our piano faculty will show you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, but they will also incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons. Our piano teachers have warm personalities and enjoy sharing their love for the piano with you. It is ideal if you do have a piano at home, but you can start lessons with our piano teachers by using an electric keyboard to practice on. Most of our students rent or buy small electric keyboards practice on at home. We recommend a keyboard that has regular sized keys and a touch sensitive response. A touch sensitive keyboard means if you press a key harder it will play louder and if you press a key softer it will play quieter. |
GUITAR, MANDOLIN, UKULELE LESSONS
Our guitar instructors are able to teach whatever style of music you want to learn. All students will learn technique and artistry through whichever style they want to learn. Our teachers can help the student find their love of music through the guitar as they learn simple songs, melodies, and riffs. Whether you want to play country music or heavy metal, acoustic or electric, we have you covered. Our teachers can even help you with guitar repair: such as the set up of your guitar or replacing your strings! |
VOICE LESSONS
Our voice teachers will work with each student to develop their own voice. Younger students can expect to work on popular Disney or musical theatre songs. Older students will love singing their favorite songs from their favorite artists. All students will learn correct posture, breathing, and technique to develop their amazing instrument. |
DRUM LESSONS
Our drum instructors will teach whatever style of music you love. From simple drumming exercises to the most amazing drum solos, our drum teachers have you covered. You do not need to purchase an entire drum set to start taking drum lessons, beginning students can learn with a drum pad and sticks for about $40. Students will use our drum set at their lesson and just need to bring their drum sticks and a notebook. We also offer percussion lessons, which is a wonderful addition to any school band program, rock band, or worship band. |
VIOLIN and VIOLA and CELLO LESSONS
Our string instructors will teach all styles of music, from learning to play by ear to reading music. If you want to play classical music or the fiddle, we have a teacher for you. Students can be as young as 5 years old, or younger with the teacher's approval. Our students love learning the fundamentals, as well as incorporating your favorite songs into their lessons. Our violin teachers have friendly personalities and love working with children and teens and adults! |
